What is Online Psychotherapy?
Online Psychotherapy is counseling in a live, interactive, video format. Also referred to as Virtual Telehealth, Tele-Mental health or E-therapy, Teletherapy feels similar to Skype or FaceTime, but with secure, confidential, HIPAA compliant software. Online therapy means being able to have your session in the privacy of your home or office. I offer Online Psychotherapy for individuals located in Connecticut or Florida.
Why Use Online Psychotherapy?
COVENIENCE, FLEXIBILITY, & ACCESSIBILITY
Online Psychotherapy provides accessibility to counseling with modern convenience. You might be overwhelmed with a busy lifestyle and responsibilities that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. You might have limited mobility or are the primary caretaker for a relative that makes it near impossible to leave home. During the COVID-19 pandemic, teletherapy is an opportunity to practice social distancing without exposing yourself to a public area. During this time of increased anxiety, telehealth allows access to needed mental health support.
Does it Work?
Studies show that online therapy is as effective as in-person counseling when appropriate for the particular mental health issues being addressed. Teletherapy is still a live, real time interaction with a therapist.
Is It Safe and Easy?
Your information is stored in an encrypted database that is compliant with all federal and state healthcare privacy laws. The video feed that I use is also encrypted for confidentiality and the protection of your information.
When your first session is booked, you will receive an email with a link to your session. Your link is individual and unique to only you to ensure your privacy.
Is Telehealth for everyone?
We will have a phone consultation first to evaluate whether teletherapy is the right fit for you. In certain situations such as complex mental health diagnoses or other individual issues, we might determine that in-person sessions are a better fit.
You will need a reliable internet connection and a device, such as a laptop, desktop or smartphone. Any internet-capable device with a camera will do.
You will also need a private space where you can talk openly without worrying that you will be overheard.
